MOAA & Chapter Membership

Membership criteria

Men and women who are serving or have served on active duty or in one of the National Guard or Reserve components as a commissioned or warrant officer in one of the United States uniformed services: Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, Coast Guard, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Public Health.

If you are a current member of MOAA, belong to an Oregon Chapter and have not previously registered or logged-on to this web site, please click this link REGISTER (also located at top right of this screen) and complete the on-line instructions.

Registration will allow you to access all the pages/links on the site including Members, Documents, Newsletters, Photos & other Information such as Council rosters, meeting minutes and member gallery.

When asked to enter your "public display name" enter your first and last name instead of a nickname/username.

THE OREGON STATE COUNCIL OF CHAPTERS

The Oregon State Council of Chapters Military Officers Association of America (OSCC) includes all chartered Chapters throughout Oregon who are in good standing with the Military Officers Association of America and who desire to affiliate with the Council.

MISSION: To support directly and through our affiliated chapters, the military community. This includes Active, Reserve, National Guard, Retired, and former Commissioned and Warrant officers of all seven Uniformed Services and their surviving spouses.

FOCUS

Support the membership in order to preserve and enhance their rights, benefits, entitlements, and quality of life
Support those currently wearing the uniform of our Nations Armed Services, their spouses and families.
Support the mission of the Military Officers Association.

VISION

Accomplish its mission by being one of the leading professional military organizations in the State of Oregon.
Organize itself with strong local chapters to support key political issues in Oregon that impact the membership
Pursue the growth of and program development for Surviving Spouses
Pursue strong affiliations with military units within and without the State. This effort will include the involvement in and support of military family dependents.
Take care of the Veteran. In do doing will assume an active role in supporting Veterans Homes, Stand-Downs, and Veteran support activities.
Actively communicate with Chapters about the issues and concerns of our membership on both state and national levels; together we have a powerful voice!
Form alliances with other Veteran organizations to enhance our political effectiveness.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Represent the consensus of the member chapters
Help maintain a healthy affiliate system
Provide a forum for the exchange of ideas among chapters
Lead and coordinate state legislative matters in the interest of the military and veteran community
Provide support for national MOAA's legislative and other objectives

UNITED VETERANS GROUPS OF OREGON (UVGO)

The Oregon State Council of Chapters is a signatory member of UVGO.

MISSION: The UVGO presents a unified position on matters concerning Oregon's 340,000+ veterans and is an advocate for veterans' rights. Click this link for UVGO FACEBOOK PAGE

OVERVIEW:

The UVGO is a coordinating organization for veterans' service organizations on matters concerning the welfare of Oregon veterans, their dependents or survivors. The UVGO takes no position on legislative issues without unanimous consent of voting member organizations.

Voting membership in the UVGO consists of those federally-chartered veterans' service organizations which have a state (department) headquarters in Oregon. Associate membership is extended to the auxiliaries of those chartered organizations as well as non-chartered veterans' organizations and support groups.

Since its formation over thirty-five years ago, the UVGO has taken a lead position on several significant projects, such as establishment of the current home of the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs (ODVA), establishment of an Oregon State Veterans' Home, the Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Portland and the VA Outpatient Clinics around the state.
